Your Love Is Strong

Not sure if there is a more beautiful, crushing song out there right now...for me at least. This song works me and fills me and overflows within me and makes me want to run and fly and love and love and love...

Let it shake you.
It's by Jon Foreman.

ESPN Podcasts

Alright, so for those of you who know me and for those of you who don't, I'm a pretty big sports fan. I can talk about any sport at any time of day and thoroughly enjoy it. Sometimes I think I would love to have a sports radio show where me and a buddy get to talk sports for an hour or so and get paid for it. Not a bad gig for those of you who do this (probably none of my readers). I've been tuning in to about six different ESPN podcasts every day at work while I'm designing at my computer from 8-5. These guys are nuts and say some of the most hilarious and out-there lines, but they also keep me informed on the sports world. I almost feel like I know these dudes. A couple of my faves are "The Best of Mike and Mike" and "Thundering Herd." I also really like the Baseball Today podcast. All of them are great. Check em out sometime. You'll get a kick out of these dudes. They're like sports fans on acid. You can download them on iTunes or on ESPN.com.

Redesigned

So I redesigned this site today and hope to update it more in the future. If you want to follow my blog, scroll down and click the link on the sidebar to become a follower. I know I've been horrible at updating this in the past, but hopefully you can help inspire me by becoming a follower so that I actually know people are reading it. :)

Much love.

Coldplay and the NBA Draft

First off, if you haven't yet listened to the new Coldplay, please do. It is absolutely ridiculous. So beautiful it should be illegal, but I'm glad it's not. The driving drum rhythm of tracks like "Lost!" and the airy instrumental melodies on tracks like "Life In Technicolor" and "Death and All His Friends" make me want to live. I could play the first track on repeat all day and feel a million miles above the moon. And the chorus at the end of "Death and All His Friends" completely blows my mind..."No, I don't want to battle from beginning to end, I don't want to recycle the cycle of revenge, I don't want to follow death and all of his friends." Simply freezing it's so beautiful. This album truly makes you stop and think of life and beauty and a thousand other things. I can't get enough. And what a beautiful line to end an album..."And in the end, we lie awake and dream of making our escape."

It is the eve of the NBA Draft and I've never been so excited. I haven't been a huge NBA fan all my life. Usually more a college b-ball fan. But over the past couple years, my love for the game and the Cavs have peaked. And I actually know some of the names in this year's draft. And man, there is some serious talent in this field. My Cavs are sitting at pick 19, so we'll see who they end up with...hopefully a stud center who can take over for Ilgauskas.

I'm going to go finish my coffee and watch the group of women knitting at the table next to me. There's about 17 of them. They own this joint right now.

Much love.

Catchin' Up

I'm sitting at It's a Grind with Kel, drinking a cold coffee and looking out the window on one of the most beautiful days I've ever experienced. Today is ridiculous outside. Kel and I ate some burritos at the ocean and watched high schoolers flirting like out of an episode of Laguna Beach. We're now in our new apartment in Carlsbad and loving it. Very thankful for this place we call home. I'm typing on my iPod Touch, so that's why these thoughts are choppy and quick. I'll write more later.

We bought tickets yesterday to see the Tribe play the Angels on April 7th. Can't wait. I've missed the game a lot.

Much love.

The Road to Black Lake

Today the sun rose black
Over a beautiful town
My heart rose with hope
And fell to the ground

I stepped out into the cold
And wondered which road to take
When I saw a dark figure in the distance
Waving me in the direction of a dark lake

A strong wind fought me
As I began to walk
I didn't want to go
But I couldn't seem to talk

I heard a voice say
Come here son, these waters are warm
I took a breath and started to cry
As the sky doors opened and it began to storm

My feet were bare and covered in dirt
When I reached the edge of the lake
Someone pushed me from behind
And I fell into a cold mistake

Like a robber in the night
Who graciously returns what he takes
I was a man of solid faith
Caught down the road to black lake

The water was so cold I couldn't see
But I felt a hand come to rescue me
It pulled me to dry ground
As I heard the dark figure scream

Arms were around me in a warm embrace
Telling me all was fine
A man dressed in white wiped my tears and said
It's ok son, I am yours and you are mine
It's not good to be alone
Let me lead you home

The man in white said
You were a man of solid faith caught down the road to black lake
But because of me you are free
And second chances never end for those who believe

The storm broke and the sky became alive
I looked up and let out a thankful sigh
Today the sun rose black and my heart fell to the ground
But tonight the sun set bright and my heart spun round

It's black like a nightmare
When faith and darkness fight
But for those who believe in faith
That darkness turns to light

For those who walk by faith
The darkness fades to light...

Someday...

Well folks, I know it's been quite a while since I've written on this thing, but I'm going to try to make an effort here. A lot has been happening lately. Things that have made me stop and wonder about my life. About who I am. About what I want to be. About what God made me for. About where I'm going and if my motives are healthy...am I going where I want to go or to the place, wherever it may be, that will draw me closer to God. That's a huge question that's floating around my mind right now. Tough to tackle.

Matt and I got back a week ago from my parents' cottage. We headed into the Michigan woods, which were absolutely breathtaking (see above), to chase a dream of writing a film script. Yes, a feature length movie. It's called Someday Festival. It's been in the making for a few years now. Ever since Matt and I lived together in LA. So we took a week and pounded out a draft that we feel confident and excited about and have turned it in to Matt's agent's assistant. If he feels it's solid, then he passes it along to his agent in hopes that he can hook us up with a literary agent to help find us someone that believes in our film as much as we do...and then hopefully we can get this bad boy made. It's always been a dream to see this story told on the screen, so I'm not giving up till it makes it one day. We'll see what God wants to do with it. It's truly a beautiful and powerful story and it would be an honor if it could touch someone's heart one day as they sit watching it in a theater.

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a new Moleskine journal from the bookstore. I'm excited because I'm going to start writing the books of the Bible out as a new way of studying the Word. I've heard it's pretty solid, and knowing the way I learn, it'll probably help me to write the actual words out on paper.

It's about time for bed. I wish the Tribe could have pulled out that World Series this year, but I've got to hand it to the Sox. They are absolutely unstoppable. And the Brownies have a winning record right now...HELLO! And...the Celtics start their season tomorrow! Can't wait to see those boys take the court! They're gonna be solid!

Much love and cups of coffee...
Seth

...oh, and please pick up Griffin House's new album, Flying Upside Down, and This Holiday Life's new album, The Beginning of the End of the World. Both insane! Both brought tears to my eyes...

Sex God and March Madness

I'm sitting at Panera right now sipping an I.C. Mocha while reading and watching the March Madness scores update on my laptop. The scores always have to be ridiculously close in the tournament, so I'm sitting here looking like a complete freak as I cringe and dramatically react to the updating on my screen. Who cares though? I'm also reading an amazing book right now by Rob Bell called Sex God. Only a chapter into it, but so far it's really opening my heart and challenging me. I just read about bringing heaven to earth. At one point he says, "How you treat the creation reflects how you feel about the creator." I love that. What a beautiful challenge. I want to live more like that, treating people the way I want to be treated, and more importantly, the way God wants all of us to be treated. I want to bring what Jesus teaches to this earth and actually live it in a raw and genuine way.

Also, I can't say enough about Bloc Party's new album, A Weekend In The City. This stuff shakes me and leaves me hoping to wake up tomorrow as a drummer. Lately, I'm the guy in the car who is beating his dashboard like a drum set and looking like a complete dork. I don't care though. You would be too if you were listening. Pick up this album. Absolutely beautiful.

Sex God and Footsoldiers

So I was recently passed the baton of heading up Switchfoot's street team, the Footsoldiers. My good friend Katherine asked me last week to take over for her and I said yes, no hesitation. What an honor and a blessing to be working for such a beautiful and powerful movement, and such incredible people. I'm excited to see where it takes me, and hopefully, where I can take it.

Also, can't wait for Rob Bell's new book, Sex God. Should be out sometime in March. If you haven't read his previous one, Velvet Elvis, please do yourself a huge favor and turn those pages.

Much love.
