The Road to Black Lake

Today the sun rose black
Over a beautiful town
My heart rose with hope
And fell to the ground

I stepped out into the cold
And wondered which road to take
When I saw a dark figure in the distance
Waving me in the direction of a dark lake

A strong wind fought me
As I began to walk
I didn't want to go
But I couldn't seem to talk

I heard a voice say
Come here son, these waters are warm
I took a breath and started to cry
As the sky doors opened and it began to storm

My feet were bare and covered in dirt
When I reached the edge of the lake
Someone pushed me from behind
And I fell into a cold mistake

Like a robber in the night
Who graciously returns what he takes
I was a man of solid faith
Caught down the road to black lake

The water was so cold I couldn't see
But I felt a hand come to rescue me
It pulled me to dry ground
As I heard the dark figure scream

Arms were around me in a warm embrace
Telling me all was fine
A man dressed in white wiped my tears and said
It's ok son, I am yours and you are mine
It's not good to be alone
Let me lead you home

The man in white said
You were a man of solid faith caught down the road to black lake
But because of me you are free
And second chances never end for those who believe

The storm broke and the sky became alive
I looked up and let out a thankful sigh
Today the sun rose black and my heart fell to the ground
But tonight the sun set bright and my heart spun round

It's black like a nightmare
When faith and darkness fight
But for those who believe in faith
That darkness turns to light

For those who walk by faith
The darkness fades to light...
